An El Dorado Hills restaurant and pub is getting some recognition from a Sacramento Bee food critic.

36 Handles, which in late 2012 replaced Kinnee O’Reilly’s in the Montano shopping center at White Rock and Latrobe roads, was listed as one of the Sacramento Bee’s “10 great places to grab lunch in ’13.”

The eatery’s kitchen is led by Executive Chef Heather Zamarripa, and features six kinds of fish and chips, cottage pie, corned beef and other dishes, according to the 36 Handles website. The name comes from the 32 beers and four wines on tap.

The Sacramento Bee’s Allen Pierleoni describes the food at 36 Handles as “solid and at times unexpected,” citing the centerpiece fish and chips as well as less common dishes like jalapeno-bacon mac and cheese, gyros and more.

But that doesn’t mean it should be considered a fine dining establishment. Pierleoni’s list of lunch spots is characterized as “small, diverse, mostly family-run places that offer recommendable dishes at fair prices.”
