A man wanted on charges of violating his parole was arrested after an all-night standoff in El Dorado Hills, authorities say.

Nathan Brown, 38, was believed to be living in an apartment complex on El Dorado Hills Boulevard, and authorities believed he was armed with a sawed-off shotgun, according to a sheriff’s department press release.

When authorities arrived at the apartment complex around 8 p.m. Thursday, they saw someone who matched Brown’s description looking out a window, the press release says.

Deputies surrounded the apartment, but Brown didn’t respond to their announcements. Around midnight, the SWAT team, a bomb squad and crisis negotiators were called in.

Brown still refused to talk to authorities, and the El Dorado Hills standoff lasted into Friday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m. Friday, a female inside the apartment agreed to come outside, the Sacramento Bee reported.

“Approximately an hour later, [the Crisis Negotiation Team] convinced Brown that the Sheriff’s Office would remain there until his surrender,” the press release states. “Brown exited without incident and was taken into custody.”

He was booked into the county jail on charges of parole violation, making criminal threats and obstructing law enforcement, according to the press release.
