El Dorado County residents who want to help neighbors affected by last month’s 4,200-acre Sand Fire will get the chance next week.

A Sand Fire fundraiser and benefit will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Aug. 22 on the main lawn of the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville. A pasta dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and live music will be performed from 5 to 10.

Prizes will be raffled off, and beer and wine will be available with a donation.

Admission is $10 per person or $25 for a family, and 100 percent of the proceeds from the Sand Fire fundraiser will go to people impacted by the blaze. Twenty homes and 47 outbuildings were destroyed in the Sand Fire, and two people were injured, according to CalFIRE. The fire was centered along Highway 49, five miles north of Jackson, and spilled into El Dorado and Amador counties.

Tickets for the Sand Fire fundraiser are available at the door, and numerous businesses around El Dorado County.

Raffle prizes worth $25 or more may be donated at Thompsons Toyota, 140 Forni Dr. in Placerville. Donation checks may also be mailed to The El Dorado Community Foundation, 312 Main St. Suite 201, Placerville, CA 95667. Write “Sand Fire Benefit” in the notes of the check.

A separate Sand Fire fundraiser, a motorcycle run from the Folsom Harley-Davidson dealership to Bones Roadhouse in Placerville, will be held on Aug. 23. That event is $20 per person or $30 for a couple, and registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. More information is available on Examiner.com.
