Volunteers Wanted for Placerville Homeless Camp Cleanup

The Placerville Police Department is looking for a hand cleaning up the mess left by the homeless camps it cracked down on last week.

Workers will meet at 10 a.m. Sunday at the department, 730 Main St., to pick up trash that couldn’t be cleaned up during the Feb. 19 operation that dismantled 14 Placerville homeless encampments and left two people in custody. Police said the amount of trash overwhelmed city crews, and it couldn’t all be picked up that day.

Volunteers are welcome at the Sunday cleanup, and gloves and trash bags will be provided by the Placerville Police Department.

“Bring your own water and wear comfortable attire that you don’t mind getting dirty,” the department said in a press release.

The department said it’s heard a “significant interest” from community members interested in volunteering with the cleanup.
